An Analysis of Scottish Borrowers' Registers
This manuscript is not a borrowing register but rather a notebook containing a waiting list for library books. Some entries on this list have been crossed off or dated when the borrower received the book. As no borrowing register exists for the period 1824-1830, entries for these years have been inputted to recover some of the borrowings. Entries with no cross or date have been excluded from statistics.
Between pages 17 and 25, a cross demarks that the borrower received the book. The 'borrowed date' associated with these borrowings are generalisations based on the date the borrower requested the book. Between pages 28 and 32, the date that the borrrower received the book is noted, and this has been inferred as the borrowed date.
